Have you ever doubted one of your hiring decisions?
By: Craig Elvin
Have you ever hired somebody only to find out that they weren’t a good fit for the business?
Or have you spent time disagreeing with your business partners about a candidate’s suitability?
Well, firstly, you’re not alone.
I talk with clients on a regular basis who have to deal with similar issues. And, to understand why, you need to look at the processes that got you to that point in the first place.
What I often find with clients is that they’re only doing the first two stages of what should be a three-stage assessment process.
Firstly, they look at whether the candidate appears to be what they’re looking for?
Yes, because the CV said so.
Secondly, can they do what you need them to do?
Yes, because we’ve interviewed them and they say that they can.
And that’s where most companies or recruitment businesses stop.
But at Executive Heads, we undertake stage three for our clients.
We assess will they do what you need them to be able to do?
By assessing and measuring their attitudes and behaviours, we can build a far more accurate picture as to how that candidate is likely to perform in the role, allowing you to make a better decision based on future performance.
Also, when you use behavioural profiling, you’ll create a better alignment among your stakeholders, helping them to feel listened to and engaged with your hiring process.
They may also understand why it is that they’re not gelling with all of the candidates that they’re taking the time to see, or what it is that they’re unsure about.
And finally, you’ll have more of a robust and efficient hiring process that will save you time and money in the long run.
If you’d like to understand how we integrate that profiling into our hiring process or for a free, no-obligation behavioural assessment for a role that you’re thinking about hiring at the moment, then click here to schedule a conversation with Craig..
